It’s time to get to know your strengths and weaknesses and become a real champion. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been devoted to personal growth and this has inspired me to help others grow as well. That’s what inspired me to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach —to motivate, challenge, and get YOU to YOUR Best.
Tammy Kovaluk is a strength and conditioning and running coach who, after working in various areas throughout Canada and the United States, is settling in the Nelson, British Columbia area. With her MSc in Kinesiology and Sport Performance, Tammy has 20+ years coaching athletes and people from all walks of life. She did not grow up as an athlete, but found her passion in fitness near the end of high school and has defied the odds: going onto compete as an amateur boxer then as a runner, competitive Ironman triathlete, elite obstacle course racer, competitor in military style ultra endurance events (including 1st overall in the 36hr "Ultimate SUCK", 2020), and breaking two Guinness World Records for 12 and 24hr chest to ground pushup burpees amongst other things. She believes in leading by example and continues to challenge herself in new ways, whether it is a 100 mile race or a grueling strength-endurance challenge to fundraise and raise awareness for non profits for survivors of abuse. She is also the founder of Rise Challenge Events, a themed obstacle race series that embraces community and team work.
Tammy brings 20+ years of experience in everything from rehabilitation to achieving peak strength, power, and athletic performance. She has helped numerous athletes attain scholarships, fulfill their dreams, successfully complete Special Forces Selection, get their first win, or attain new achievements they had not thought possible. Physical training has changed her life, and she is dedicated to helping others feel the positive impact and enjoy the best version of themselves.
On June 5, 2021, Tammy broke two Guinness World Records for Chest to Ground Burpees as a fundraiser for Harmony Farm Sanctuary, with 6,116 in 12 hours and 6,260 in 24 hours before needing to stop due to injury. She broke both previous records (5229 for 12 hours and 5555 for 24hrs) before the 10hr mark. This is a testament to her belief in what she is instilling to those she trains. With discipline and heart, you can achieve more than you think!
Tammy Kovaluk is a
- certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS through the NSCA),
- certified speed and agility specialist, and
- corrective exercise specialist (FMS Level 2).
Her degrees include a
- BSc in Kinesiology and Biology (University of Victoria) and
- MSc in Kinesiology & Sports Conditioning
(AT Still University, where she received an award for academic excellence).
